The Revd Dr Alan McCormack, the Rector of St Botolph's, today (9th December 2013) announced the appointment of Mr Iestyn Evans as the Organist and Director of Music at St Botolph's Church. Mr Evans succeeds Mr Timothy Storey, who retired in the autumn, and he will take up his appointment in January 2014.

Mr Evans is additionally Director of Music at St James's, Spanish Place and has worked at the Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School since 2001. He has performed as a soloist and accompanist in the UK and internationally, at venues which have included St John's Smith Square; Notre-Dame de Paris; St Patrick's Cathedral, New York; Brussels Cathedral; Chartres Cathedral; the Stephansdom, Vienna and St Peter's, Rome.

Mr Evans read music at The Queen's College, Oxford where he was organ scholar and studied with David Titterington at the Royal Academy of Music; past appointments have included organ scholarships at Westminster Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and St Davids Cathedral, and seven years as Organist of St Etheldreda's, Ely Place.

Commenting on the appointment, the Rector said, "I am delighted that we have been able to recruit such a stunning and accomplished musician as our new Organist and Director of Music. I look forward to working with Iestyn in the consolidation and development of our considerable musical patrimony'.
