Parish & Ward Church of St. Botolph without Bishopsgate

Re-opening Thanksgiving

With only a few small tasks to be completed, St Botolph's opened again at the beginning of October, and on Wednesday 7th a large congregation including many distinguished guests gathered for Choral Evensong in thanksgiving for the works and to admire the splendidly redecorated interior. The Choir under the direction of Iestyn Evans sang Dyson, Haydn, and the world premiere of a /Jubilate/ composed by Nicholas Ansdell-Evans on the ordination of The Revd Dr Alan McCormack (but not performed at that time). The officiant was our Priest Missioner, Fr Andrew Williams, and we were honoured to have the Chief Commoner at the City Corporation, Deputy Billy Dove OBE, to read a Lesson. Dr McCormack gave a stirring and personal sermon, and in the Hall afterwards he was thanked in speeches by the Churchwardens for his ministry at St Botolph's over the past eight and a half years and left with everyone's best wishes for his new role at Goodenough College.
