Exhibition explores WW1 memorials in London

From Wednesday 3 August, to coincide with the Centenary of the WW1 memorial cross in the churchyard, the exhibition ‘Exploring London’s First World War memorials’will be on display in the church.

This exhibition was developed by the Greater London Authority to mark the centenary of the outbreak of war in 2014, and includes a series of new images and archive material illustrating the variety of First World War memorials across London. It invites us to explore memorials in our own areas and develop a greater interest in this important part of our heritage, and it aims to connect with and reference the work of agencies such as War Memorials Trust, English Heritage, the Imperial War Museum and the Royal British Legion. We are grateful to Mr Brian Oakaby, Senior Events Officer at City Hall, who curated the exhibition and has kindly lent it for further display at St Botolph's.
It is hoped that the exhibition will remain on display until Open House Weekend in September.
